    • Echocardiogram An ultrasound study of the heart, an echocardiogram gives the physician specific information on how the heart is functioning. This test shows the motion of the heart walls as well as the function of heart valves. Congenital heart problems in children and heart murmurs can be seen on echocardiograms.
    • Transesophogeal Echocardiogram (TEE) Also a cardiac ultrasound study, the TEE is an invasive procedure in which a tiny ultrasound probe is introduced into the esophogus as a way to see the areas of the heart that cannot be seen with a standard echocardiogram. The pictures produced are much more detailed the probe is located much closer to the heart.
  • Digital Mammography Mammography is the best method presently available to detect early breast cancer. Fully accredited by the American College of Radiology's Mammography Accreditation Program, JMH provides high quality, digital images. All mammograms at JMH are administered by female registered mammography technologists and read by a board certified radiologist. JMH has been certified by the US Food and Drug Administration and the NYS Department of Health. For more information call the JMH Breast Screening Center, (585) 596-4013 or email medical imaging. • Nuclear Medicine Nuclear medicine involves the use of radioactive materials (isotopes) to obtain specific diagnostic information. The isotopes transmit a pattern of rays representing the organ size, shape, and function. The rays are detected by a special camera which, when coupled with the computer, produces a characteristic image on screen. The amount of radiation to which you are exposed during this examination is minimal and of no significant danger. The tracer material is eliminated from the body in a day or two. Complications and side effects are rare. For more information about nuclear medicine services at JMH, please call the Medical Imaging Department at (585) 596-4013 or medical imaging.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging For more information about the MRI at JMH, please call the Medical Imaging Department at (585) 596-4013 or email medical imaging
  • Bone Density Measurement The only sure way to determine bone density and fracture risk for osteoporosis is to have a bone mass measurement, also called bone mineral density test. JMH offers bone density tests with the recently arrived Dual X-Ray Absorptiometry (DXA) scanner. There are several ways to measure bone mineral density and all are painless, noninvasive and safe. You don't even have to change into an examination robe. The information from a bone density test enables your doctor to identify where you stand within ranges of normal and to determine whether you are at risk for fracture. In general, the lower your bone density is, the higher your risk for fracture. Test results will help you and your doctor decide the best course of action for your bone health. Bone density tests at JMH are available for both men and women through physician and self-referral. Call the Medical Imaging Department at (585) 596-4013 or email medical imaging.

All medical imaging services at JMH are reviewed by a board certified Radiologist.
