

Acute pain occurs when the body is telling the brain there is something wrong. Fix what is wrong, and the pain stops. Chronic pain doesn't stop. Chronic pain, whether it is caused by the back, arthritis or a condition like fibromyalgia.
Because pain is subjective - a different feeling for each person - it can be very difficult to diagnose and treat. People with chronic pain can feel isolated and it often leads to depression. Support from others living with pain may help alleviate these feelings.
