Community Activities & Support Groups

An important part of the community it serves, Jones Memorial Hospital participates in a number of activities throughout the year.

Smoking Cessation
The Jones Memorial Hospital Smoking Cessation Program is a four week program held on a regular basis at the Hospital. The cost is $20.00 to cover books and materials. This program is open to the public and is sanctioned by the American Cancer Society. Participants must register in advance by calling 585-596-4080. Those who attend all the classes and complete the program will be eligible for a certificate. This certificate can be turned into their insurance provider for possible reminbursements.

Education & Support Groups
The Diabetes Support Group meets monthly on the third Wednesday from September to May . For more information or to find out when the next meeting is, contact Diabetes Nurse Educator Brenda Torrey. The meetings are generally held at 7 pm in the Walchli Room, unless otherwise noted.

Lions Club Diabetes Center at Jones Memorial Hospital offers a Diabetes Self-Management Series at the hospital. After completing the series, each participant will also have a private, one-on-one session with the diabetes nurse educator. The cost is $75 for the 10-hour class, but the cost may be covered so check with your insurance carrier. A Fibromyalgia Support Group meets at the Hospital on a regular basis on the second Thursday of each month from 6 to 7 pm in the Walchli Education Center. For more information, contact JMH Community Connections.

The Pulmonary Support Group meets on the second Monday of each month at 1 pm in the Walchli Room at the Hospital. This meeting is an opportunity for those with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Emphysema and Adult Asthma to share tips for daily living and provide encouragement for one another.
