The Wellsville Lions Club Diabetes Center at Jones Memorial Hospital is now certified by the American Diabetes Association.
A collaboration between the Wellsville Lions Club and Jones Memorial, the services available at the center now include on-site testing, such as A1C, lipids, urine micro albumin, and a retinal camera.
Recognized for meeting the national standards for diabetes self management and education, the Diabetes Center is staffed by Brenda Torrey, RN Certified Diabetes Nurse Educator and certified insulin pump trainer. Living Your Life with Diabetes is a a series of classes held throughout the year at Jones Memorial.
Applying for certification was voluntary. In order to be ADA certified, the educators had to meet specific criteria, provide and document standards of service, and track patient outcomes.
Achieving ADA certification means that many of the Center's services, including the 4-week Diabetes Self-Management Classes and point of care testing, will now be covered by insurance. For specifics on your coverage, check with your provider.
