The Dr. F. Clifton Miller Birthing Center

Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center+ Maternity BadgeOur family-centered Dr. F. Clifton Miller Birthing Center. was recognized as a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care by Blue Cross of WNY. The staff includes a certified lactation counselor, which may be one reason why new mother breast feeding rates have increased.

Our warm and caring nursing staff, experienced health providers and modern birthing suites combine to make Jones Memorial Hospital the place for Wonderful Beginnings! With six spacious, private birthing suites, solid oak woodwork crafted by members of the local Amish community, and quilted wall hangings made and donated by staff and friends of JMH, the Dr. F. Clifton Miller Birthing Center at Jones Memorial Hospital is a warm and inviting place to welcome the newest member of your family.

The birthing center has seven suites, two outpatient exam rooms, a nursery with newborn warmers, and a modern security system.

  • Laboring mothers have the option to choose nitrous oxide for pain control. Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is safe for mother and baby while offering immediate pain relief has been in use for centuries in other countries. It can be easily discontinued and its effects disappear within five minutes. One of the many benefits of using nitrous oxide to relieve pain during labor is that it does not affect infant alertness during the early bonding period between a mother and her newborn. It also does not affect breastfeeding and - because it is self-administered - a woman can decide how much to use. She can also decide if she wants to stop using it and try another method of pain relief instead.
